From the Ground Up: Field Journaling for Everyone!
Welcome to our Autumn series of field journaling classes! In September and October, we will focus on sketching and writing what you see and feel when you are outside, paired with drawing skills sessions in the studio. These themed classes will meet every other Friday, 12:30pm-5:00pm. Each class will include a field experience, natural history lesson, and drawing skills instruction. Please join us for one class or all four!
Sept 7: Grasses, Shrubs & Trees
Sept 21: Topography & Contours
Oct 5: Drawing the Weather: Sky & Clouds
Oct 19: Capturing the Essence of a Place
Classes are $65 each or $240 for the 4-class series (save $20!). Space is limited to 12 people per class, and registration is required. Register by contacting Mary Kiesau at 509-551-6714, firstname.lastname@example.org or Perri Howard, 509-557-2299 email@example.com.
These classes are designed for ages 16 and up. If you would like to bring a youngster under the age of 16, please call/email Perri to explore the possibilities.
Classes are designed for you to attend a single class or all four in the series. Each class will start outdoors with about 1 1/2 hours of walking, observing, and field journaling with a wonderful naturalist lesson by Mary Kiesau. Then, we’ll move to Perri’s studio at TwispWorks for more drawing lessons and practice.
We’ll pick field locations that are easy to access for all levels of mobility. The indoor session will include fundamental drawing tips and lessons like creating depth and perspective, giving your shapes form and texture, drawing “landscapitos,” and working with color.
All materials, including pens, pencils, paper, and teaching tools, will be included, but feel free to bring your own materials if you’d like. Details will be sent before each class with what to bring and where to meet. Join us and learn how to draw and keep a field journal, from the ground up!
